Humane Society plans trip to help Havasupai horses | Daily Sun | April 29, 2017
The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) is pleased to participate in a project with the Havasupai Tribe located in Supai Village, home to the world famous Havasu Falls. Joining HSUS in efforts to enhance and improve animal welfare for the region’s horses is Arizona Coalition for Equines (ACE), Equine Voices Rescue & Sanctuary, Healing Hearts Animal Rescue, Glenn Shearer and Dr. Laura Harris, DVM, owners of Equine DVM, Inc., Dr. Richard Fisher, owner of Fisher Equine Dentistry and Wayne and Elizabeth Toliver of Wayne’s Place Saddlery, Farrier Service & Arena. We are working with the Tribal Council and other stakeholders to provide education on equine care with a focus on working horses, support and coordinate direct service through volunteer equine veterinarians/providers and other equine experts. We will work in unison with the Tribal leaders as a supportive partner to ensure the betterment of horses in the region, whether privately owned or used solely for the purposes of tourism. Our partnership kicks off with an upcoming visit to Supai to provide education and medical services in May. We will be hosting educational community gatherings as well as private consultation, providing direct care of area horses, training animal control officers, delivering goods and supplies and meeting with Havasupai community members and horse owners.
We are pleased to share that the following companies have already signed on as supporters of this project. Thank you to our Presenting Sponsor, Wildland Trekking Company, and to our Supportive Partners AOA Adventures and Four Season Guides.

We are also pleased to launch a campaign for citizens and businesses in Arizona and beyond that have expressed interest in the horses that reside in the village. This is YOUR opportunity to make a difference!
Please donate today to support the Havasupai horses! Your donation to the Havasupai effort goes directly to support these education and service efforts to provide food and supplies to the majestic animals in the region.
